We use it in our wood burning fireplace because my wife has bad asthma. Looks the part and does warm up the room. It would probably work better if we didn’t have 18’ ceilings. It hasn’t been really cold yet. So hard to tell if we will still need our other space heaters that we usually have. I’ll try to follow up later in the winter months.

We wanted something to use in the off season that provides a little warmth when needed along with the ambiance of a fire whenever we want. The cost for installing gas logs was a big negative so we thought we would give this a try. Its really nice to be able to use the set for the visual ambiance without having the heat that would be produced by a gas set up. We have found it very enjoyable on rainy (but warm) spring evenings and the heater works well to knock the chill off in the early mornings when needed. Overall very pleased.

A good fire effect for the price. Works best in a dark room without any direct light or daylight shining on the fireplace. Having a fire screen in front helps improve the effect. Heater is good. The optional ember mat is absurdly over priced ( should be $20) I actually found it to detract from the flame effect because it was so bright and orange, so I "muted it" by putting some other small fake logs on it.

My mother had a mantle with a propane insert. She no longer felt comfortable with the propane. However, she wanted the mantle. So, I searched for options and found the Dimplex Revillusion Electric Log insert. I fabricated an insert in the mantle and affixed a simulated brick vinyl. The Dimplex unit was a perfect fit. It was a hit during the holidays and everyone thought it was wonderful. The heater works fine on both settings. The flames look authentic. The ash mat is a nice option. I received the item faster than expected and there were no issues at all with the purchase. I am a very happy purchaser.

The optical effects are very realistic and satisfied exactly what we wanted to accomplish. Setup is very simple, and the unit is very easy to operate. The shipping was punctual as expected. I recommend buying the glowing coal apparatus to compliment the log-set. I also recommend measuring your fireplace width and buying the larger unit if there is room. Ours could have gone either way. Lastly, consider buying a fireplace sound device to add to the effects. There are many options included hidden soundboxes or even casting sound to a bluetooth speaker from a smart phone or other bluetooth device.

This photo really doesn't do my new Dimplex RLG20 justice! The fireplace is an older propane one that I really wasn't excited about using with the gas. The RLG20 was the perfect solution.
